In these cities large walls were built to protect them completely, the most used materials to build this type of constructions were clay and brick, along with stone and wood, materials also used to build their houses.
Here we could also find these huge constructions called Ziggurats, there were temples located in the center of these cities, places where the priests lived, as well it was the place where the supreme priests lived, the ones who had the political and religious power, the ones who controlled these civilizations.

The Ziggurats were used to control trade, crops and taxes. Something very important since these civilizations are known for their fertile lands and for having a surplus of crops.

Talking about agriculture, a very important topic because thanks to this these civilizations were able to grow a lot, this is because the land was surrounded by rivers, which makes it suitable for agriculture, but their invention contributed a lot, the irrigation. This method of watering was very useful to be able to cultivate their crops in an effective way, in order to avoid droughts and other consequences.

Writing was invented in Mesopotamia. At first it was just simple drawings, called pictograms. With the passage of time, these drawings were transformed into symbols, which is what we know as cuneiform writing, a method of writing that was done with a wooden stylus on clay tablets. This was one of the most important inventions of this civilization, since it is thanks to them that writing exists.
