What happened to the light house? It was built from 1871-1873. It’s the tallest tower along Oregon’s shores. It gives navigational aids to Oregon’s coast. It’s the third oldest light house in Oregon.

Interesting facts The glass lenses on the light house measures to about 9 feet tall. Harbour seals can dive to the depths of 600 feet.

My video is our stop at cabela’s! I loved the exhibits at cabela’s. Especially the animal mountain in the middle of it.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Speedy Science

Today at Hatfield we did carb racing! It was really fun. Our groups verialble was size. We raced a small female crab and a big female crab. At first the small one wouldn’t move, because it was too scared. But the big crab on the other hand was sooo fast! In the end when the little card decided to move, it had a faster time at 5. 37 and the big crab was 8.34.

Our group is amazing! We work together pretty well, and communicated with each other. This time because our last quest we didn’t, we read through the instructions. One thing we didn’t do so well was staying together. Lucio ran ahead so that we could get there early, but we didn’t arrive as a team. Next time we should stick together as a group.

One fact that I learned while on the boat, was that the dungeness crab can be found throughout the sandy and muddy areas in the shallowest parts of lower estuaries all the way to depths of almost 1,500 feet.

The Tillamook cheese factory was created in Oregon. It was made here because of the luscious green grass. The grass helps the cows grow up healthy and happy to make cheese. 

You can’t take rocks from this beach, because they were one of a kind. Also if everything took a rock then at some point there wouldn’t be enough rocks left!

Tsunamis are quite frequent in Oregon. There are many routes marked with signs pointing to buildings where you can shelter from tsunamis. So Oregon is prepared for some big waves. 

Columbia River Maritime Museum Crossing the Bar Section

To be honest I probably wouldn’t want to cross  the Columbia bar, but I would do it if I had to. I would be really on edge and scared. I have boat experience on sail boats, but in those waves a little sail boat would be tossed around. I would have to trust the captions abilities. To sum it up I would if I had to but would avoid it, and not enjoy it. 

Hatfield Marine Science Center R.O.V. Challenge

At first our group for R.O.V. really couldn’t get the  buoyancy right. The ratio to floating and sinking was off balance. We used major trial and error, and after a lot of testing. In the end it worked quite well, and was really fun to pick up magnetic objects with. Next time I’d make it smaller and add a little more buoyancy, but other than that it was perfect!

We tried a lot of different flavours of wings today! I loved the bbq ones! I also loved the carrots.

Cannon Beach is most well known for haystack Rock. It is sometimes called the 3rd largest intertidal rock in the world.

On Sunday June 21, 1942, Fort Stevens was bombed by a japanize war submarine. The solders had been prepared for this moment for years, but they decided not to fire. The submarine didn’t know where it was shooting and it was only one submarine. The day after on June 22 after Sunday nights shelling the solvers examend the area. There was no damage to the fort and no one was killed.

I’m really exited to see some whales when we go in a boat to try and find them.

Columbia River Maritime Museum First Nations Section

At first, when the colonizers came to North America (New France) and the  indigenous were happy to meet new people from a foreign land. The Europeans would give a whole lot for beaver pelts and the indigenous thought it was silly. After the Europeans got what they needed through trade from the indigenous, they took over the land. The poor indigenous were now being forced to be like the Europeans. The indigenous were treated wrong now we are trying to make it up to them.   

Activities like the zip lining that high life provides are really important to the little community, because the activity’s it provides bring joy to everyone, and money. 

Depoe Bay is known as the smallest navigatable harbor. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Japan. 

The Astoria Column is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a  frieze that depicts oregons history.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Estuary Investigation

The world needs citizen scientists, because without the little things being  discovered and taken care of the big discoveries wouldn’t be able to be discovered. Like for example we counted the ghost shrimp we found on the beach and that helped the science centre with there shrimp count!

Today we went to the wolf haven wolf sanctuary. The wolves that we saw at the sanctuary were saved by the people at the sanctuary. They were found in difficult situations in many different places. Some were pets, that were breaded to be less wild. Due to breading some of the wolves are part dog.
