We found land! We did it! We found New Found Land. Mr. Cartier and the rest of us (60 crew members) finally, after 20 days made it to New Found land. Now we’re going to explore it more, and try and find more trading goods by order of the king! But who knows what else we’ll find…

Bonjour tout le monde! Hello my friends! I’m so excited! We’re about to set off, by the word of the king to: “discover certain islands and lands where it is said that a great quantity of gold and other precious things are to be found". I’m the cleaner on the Petite Hermine one of our three voyage ships the Grande Hermine, Petite Hermine and Émérillon. My name is Eleanor la Nettoyeuse. I don’t actually know what my last name is, I was orphaned as an infant, but Nettoyeuse, meaning cleaner, was nicknamed to me by Mr. Cartier.

Today it was my job to swab the deck. I took out my mop and bucket and started cleaning. Mr. Cartier was talking really loud with Michel Philipot, they were staring intently at the compass, we’re on the right track, or at least according to Philipot.

Mr. Jacques Cartier is the leader of our exploration! I can’t believe it! He’s supposed to be the best explorer out there, but he’s new recommended to the king by Jean le Veneur, so we’ll see!

One of our crew members is sick, he came down with Small Pox yesterday, let’s hope we don’t meet anyone on our exploration for there sake. But what if we do? What if we get a different culture sick? What if we spread disease to the world? But there are so many other worries. What if there are things in the way? What if we meet unwanted people? What if its not safe? Let’s hope it’s safe, for everyone’s sake.
