The Addams Family Play

8th Grade D.C Trip

The 8th grade play, The Addams Family, was a huge hit for everyone! The outstanding show was performed on April 7th and 8th by Mr. Davini’s and Mrs. Vanderhoek’s Unified Arts classes. The show was performed four times and was put together by the Unified Arts department and Cawley’s 8th graders. For the first time in two years the 8th grade got to go on the long awaited Washington, D.C. trip. It was a four day, three night trip jam packed with many different activities.

costumes for the characters, Mrs. Meyer was in charge of marketing and sales, and Mr. Davini and Mrs. Vanderhoek were the directors. They did so much to make sure that the 8th graders had a unforgettable experience and the audience watched a show that they will never forget.

The 8th graders saw many monuments and memorials. They got to see the White House and the Capitol Building where they took their D.C. picture. A popular stop was the Potomac River Cruise where the 8th graders had dinner and got to dance the night away. I hope everyone that has the ability to go on the D.C. trip takes the amazing chance to have an unforgettable trip.

Concert: It was an amazing concert! The chorus sang My America, I Was Here, and Good Job (soloists were Maggie McAuliffe, Natalia Jasiukowicz, and Jadyn Piccolo). The band played Grand Old Flag and Procession For A New Day.

Hawkapella: Hawkapella is an after school club like chorus, just with a smaller group and different music. They are going to be performing at our last concert and Coffee House (Coffee House date is TBD).

Jazz Band: Jazz Band is a small group of peers that get together every Monday afternoon to play jazz music. They played All Star by Smash Mouth.

Lilac Bridge: On April 16th some Cawley band students were invited to play Procession For A New Day and Amazing Grace at the opening of the walk bridge near Robies.

Bicentennial: The Bicentennial was in honor of all the Vietnam veterans and families affected by the war. There was a replica of the Vietnam memorial located in DC that displayed the names of all the soldiers who died in the war. The band played Procession For A New Day and Grand Old Flag. The chorus sang Amazing Grace, America the Beautiful, and My America.

Spring Sports

We have our last sports games of this season: Baseball, Softball, Track and Field, Golf and Lacrosse.

The Girls Lacrosse team finished strong in their last game with a great season overall. Congratulations to Sophie Welshons on getting her first goal of the season! Great job to Ashley Clouthier, Lyla Norian, Maddie Cochrane, Cece Lawyer, and Mady Porter.

Golf they ended their season with thanks to Michael Saab, Brayden Larson and Killian Lawless for their perseverance.

Track team highlights: Girls have a 20-3 record and boys have a14-9 record. Seeing how we compete against all divisions, even the large D1 schools, the team is doing a fantastic job! Three school records so far: Miles Shea 59 seconds in 400, Charlotte Larochelle 14'11" in long jump, and Jaylin Galaez 15.93 in the hurdles. For the first time in Cawley history, the girls team won the state championship meet. After an incredible season, the boys competed hard and finished 2nd in the state championship meet. Thanks to all of the track and field student-athletes for one of the best track and field seasons ever for Cawley.

Middle School Month

Middle School Month is a whole month dedicated to us - the awesome middle school students. This month included a bunch of exciting activities including dodge ball, trivia, and bingo. We also had three dress up days: Disney day, twin day, and throwback/decades day. Thanks to our amazing staff and Middle School Month Committee - we had an amazing March! Congrats to the 7th grade for winning the 2022 Middle School Month!

Hawk of the Month

On Tuesday, February 22nd 2022 at 2:22pm, children were screaming and celebrating. Then Mr. Benson gave an announcement about this event. Why? Because the time and date was “2”s day 2/22/2022 2:22 during mod 2! This event is very rare, so you might have to wait another 200 years for it to happen again. Or if you don’t want the long wait, you can celebrate 3 day 3/3/2033 in 11 years.

Each month students are recognized for displaying the character traits for the monthly word. The following are the Hawk of the Month words:
March - Loyalty
April - Cooperation
May - Resilient

Pi Day

On Pie Day we celebrate the number pi. Pi stands for 3.14 and is used to measure circles. Since March 14th’s date is also 3.14 we celebrate it on that day. Pi comes from the Greek letter for “P”. On Pi Day, students did many activities with their homerooms. For example Mrs. Palmer did pi-kus, or poems about Pi Day. Mrs. Rushia made bracelets and keychains. Students brought in pies and ate them at the end of the day. Why pies? Because “pi” sounds just like the classic potted cake!

Maggie's Awesome Lemonade

Ingredients
3 1/2 lemons
1 1/2 cups of sugar
2 cups of water
1 lime (optional)
Mint leaves (optional)

1. Squeeze all the juice out of the lemons and lime. Put the water and sugar in a pot and boil until the sugar dissolves. (The mixture is known as simple syrup.)
2. Mix the simple syrup and the lemon/lime mixture together.
3. Add the mix to a pitcher. Fill with water to taste.
4. Add ice and mint.
5. Pour over a ice filled glass and enjoy!

School Resource Officer Angela Bergeron

Officer Bergeron is our school resource officer. She works at all the Hooksett schools. She always is helping our school in one way or the other. She was a lunch lady one day! She has no idea that we did this article for her. She is so kind and amazing. Cawley is very special to her because of our community. She loves how nice, caring, and fun we are. Her favorite spot in this school is the main office because she gets to socialize. Her favorite memory this year was the play. She said all the students were very talented and she loves how it came together. Officer Bergeron never thought she would be an SRO. When our old officer retired, she got asked to take over and she was very honored. She loves how no day is the same and how it's always something fun. Her favorite part of her job is helping to educate us and being able to take part in our lessons. This summer she plans to go to the beach and to go to Canada.

"We are very lucky to have Officer Bergeron as our School Resource Officer at Cawley. Whether you see her in the halls, the cafe or the classroom, she always has a smile on her face! She is so approachable and kind to everyone. Officer Bergeron is such an important part of our Cawley Community."
