Friday 15th September
Head of School Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all of the parents that attended the welcome meetings this week. We hope that you found them informative and a chance to ask any questions.

Hopefully you will have seen on Facebook an advert for our first Nursery stay and play session and a Reception open afternoon for the new intake next September. Please share these posts so that we can get the message out to our community.

This week Reception have been working hard to learn the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. In Maths they have been counting objects and matching numbers to the quantity. The children have enjoyed developing their fine motor skills by following handwriting patterns in a variety of ways such as painting, crayons, glitter and chalks. They have been talking lots about themselves in SCARF thinking about how they are the same as each other and how they are different and drew pictures of themselves.

Year One have enjoyed a special storytime up on the field with a little treat to introduce their new Talk 4 Writing story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' The children have been describing the characters from the story using amazing vocabulary. In Maths they have been learning number names to 10, matching them to numerals.

This week Year Two have started to learn about an artist called Barbara Hepworth. They looked at examples of sculptures that she made and discussed their own responses to them. During their class visit to the library, they found an information book about Barbara Hepworth which they brought back to class to share together.

Our focus value for the next 4 weeks is 'Curiosity'. The children will be learning this value in all lessons. If you have any examples from home of your child showing courage we would love for you to share this with us on Tapestry.
For showing curiosity in her new classroom.
