Welcome to our newsletter Friday 12th January

Dear Parents and Carers, This week in Reception the children have been learning the story of 'We're going on a bear hunt'. They have enjoyed creating their own story maps, writing character descriptions, sequencing the story and painting pictures from the story. In Maths they have been looking at the numbers zero to five and have been counting accurately. In RE this week the children have been learning about New Year and have been writing their own New Years Resolutions.&nbsp; This week Year One have been learning their new class story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. The children have looked at the adjectives in the story and made their own lists of adjectives. In Maths, the children have been learning about place value within 20, focusing on counting and ordering numbers. In music they have been using body percussion, keeping a steady beat.&nbsp; Year Two have been familiarising themselves with money- coins and notes. The children have also been completing their dioramas, creating underwater scenes to represent the class text, "The Snail and The Whale" by Julia Donaldson. Additionally there has been great excitement in beginning to choreograph our dance for this half term's PE focus. Lots of undercover secretive work has been going on throughout the school trying to get sneak previews of each other's pieces! A fun start to the team and New Year! Miss K Bullock Head of School

This week the Nursery children have been making the most of the dry but cold weather. They have particularly enjoyed exploring the ice that has formed on the water tray. They explored how the ice felt in their hands as well as experimenting with breaking the ice into smaller pieces. The most effective ways of breaking the ice proved to be hitting it with a hard object and dropping it on the floor!

Reporting Absences If your child is going to be absent from school due to illness, then please inform the office before 9am in the morning, and let us know why your child is going to be absent, and when you expect them to return. You may either phone the office on (01726) 812006 and leave a message or alternatively send an email to hello@biscoveyinfants.org.uk Please make sure that you child is getting to school on time. The gates will shut at 8.45am prompt.

School gates are open between 8.35 - 8.45am After 8.45 when gates are closed your child will be marked by the office as late (L) 8.50am onwards your child will be marked as late after register closes (U)
