Welcome to our newsletterFriday 3rd May
Head of School Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week Reception had a fantastic time at the beach and were all exceptionally well behaved. The children enjoyed making boats using natural objects, adding two different numbers and creating different pieces of artwork. In Maths this week Reception have been adding two numbers together to find the total, using a range of resources to support. In PE we have been working on developing our underarm throw and practising our over arm throwing skills.
This week in Year One, the children have written their own 'lost' stories, inventing their own characters. In Maths, they have been learning about division, sorting objects into equal groups to make equal parts. We have kickstarted our Geography learning with a walk to the beach, drawing our own maps once we returned to school. Also, the children enjoyed creating their own transient art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy using natural resources and working in teams to make boats for the penguin from our story "Lost and Found". In RE we have learnt more about Judaism and what Jewish families do to mark Shabbat each week. In SCARF the children have been thinking about their favourite parts of the school and what activities they enjoy most in school.
Year Two have enjoyed their art work this week, creating "Pop Art"- drawing and painting in the style of Andy Warhol and Lichtenstein. For Science, they made the most of the sunshine and searched for different materials in the playground. They have also been making pictorial representations of fractions to show their understanding of 1/2, ¼ and 1/3 of shapes and amounts. In RE they have been learning about Islam and Mosques- they were interested to see what was inside and to discover that there is one just outside of Truro.

My Personal Best
Our focus value for the next 4 weeks is 'Self-belief' The children will be learning this value in all lessons. If you have any examples from home of your child showing Self-belief we would love for you to share this with us on Tapestry.
For showing self-belief and staying determined to achieve what she had set out to do!
For having for the confidence to challenge himself in RWI.
For showing a can-do attitude and trying his best in all lessons.
