Welcome to our newsletterFriday 8th September

Head of School Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,
As you will read below all of the children have made an excellent start to the new term. It has been lovely to go around the classrooms to see how well the children have settled and are enjoying their learning in their new classes.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting some pictures of some of the new resources and equipment that we have bought during the Summer. The children have loved playing with their new things.
The new Reception children have settled beautifully into their new classes and have thoroughly enjoyed exploring their new environment. They have especially enjoyed the new understanding of the world resources and their new block play, where they have built towers, castles, houses, cars and much, much more. Well done to all of Reception for an excellent start!
Year One have settled in well to their new routines and have been getting to know each other and the adults. They have looked at the story 'In My Heart' and the children have had lots of opportunities to talk about their feelings and when they feel happy, excited, brave and sad. In Maths they have been learning about sorting objects into groups, recognising what is the same and different. In Art the children have created some fantastic self-portraits and have been looking at Picasso's artwork. We are really impressed with how well the children have settled in and are excited for the year ahead. Amazing work Year One!
Year Two have settled well into their new classes. They started the week calmly, listening to the story of "The Koala Who Could" which is about a koala who doesn't like change. The children then took part in lots of activities that were new to them and realised that sometimes the unknown can be exciting and fun! Later in the week, they got straight on with their Maths, one of the children commented, "This is trickier than Year One, Year Two Maths is flexing my brain already!"

Our focus value for the next 4 weeks is 'Curiosity'. The children will be learning this value in all lessons. If you have any examples from home of your child showing courage we would love for you to share this with us on Tapestry.
