Head of School Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,
This week Reception have been talking and writing about their trip to Heligan Gardens. The children have continued to work on their scissor skills and developing their fine motor skills. They have been comparing weight in Maths this week, using the language of heavier and lighter.
The children had a wonderful morning inviting their parents in for the story and rhyme workshop and the children thoroughly enjoyed working alongside their parents with different activities.
This week Year One children have been continuing to learn about what life was like when their parents and grandparents were young. They have been looking at photographs of what the school was like in the past. The children loved their visit to Lanhydrock, looking at how homes looked in the past and found the old toys and furniture fascinating. In Maths, the children have started to look at addition and subtraction and have been developing confidence when using part-whole models.
Year Two have enjoyed another busy week! They have been learning about animals and how they are suited to their habitats. A highlight was learning about seals and using lots of scientific vocabulary to describe the ways they are suited to the places they live. However, the best success was the great fun had in the playing of invasion games in PE. They are beginning to get really good at invading and defending.

SENDCO
Dear Parents and Carers,
As some of you may be aware Mrs Wilson is leaving us at half term to work across Aspire Academy trust to take up an area SENCO role for one day a week alongside a role as SENCO for another trust. Her final day at Biscovey Nursery and Infants’ Academy as SENCO will be Friday 20thOctober2023.
I am sure you will join us in congratulating her on her new roles and thanking her for the work she has done in supporting our pupils during her time here at Biscovey Nursery and Infants’ Academy.
Joining us as our SENCO is Jamie Bignell. Miss Bignell already works at the Junior School and has previously taught here at the Infants’. Miss Bignell working across both Biscovey schools will have many benefits and support transition for our pupils.
I would like to wish both every success in their new roles.

My Personal Best
Our focus value for the next 4 weeks is 'Imagination.' The children will be learning this value in all lessons. If you have any examples from home of your child showing courage we would love for you to share this with us on Tapestry.
