Welcome to our newsletterFriday 1st March
Head of School Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week Year Two have been measuring with metre sticks. They measured the playground, the classroom and themselves with tape measures and rulers. The children also innovated the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and took great care to write the story themselves using brilliant story language. In Art, they have enjoyed using lines to represent the rain and in PE there has been some superb rallying over the net- look out for them at Wimbledon in the summer!
This week Year One have continued to explore place value, partitioning numbers into tens and ones and completing number lines within 50. In writing the children have been learning how the suffixes 'ed' and 'ing' can be used to change their writing into past or present tense. In Art the children have continued to learn about the artist Georgia O'Keeffe and have explored line and tone to create their own nature pencil drawings. In SCARF they have been thinking about healthy eating, drawing foods to design their own healthy packed lunch.
This week in Reception the children have been looking at the artist Vincent Van Gogh. They have been using a variety of techniques when painting and have been using different brush strokes. In literacy this week the children have continued to read the story of 'After the Storm'. The children have been writing about what has happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story. In Maths this week the children have been looking at numbers 9 and 10 and finding ways to represent the numbers. In PE the children have been continuing their net and wall sessions where they have been focusing on showing good control when travelling with a ball.
