Welcome to our newsletterThursday 28th March
Head of School Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week Reception have been looking at plants and talking about how they grow. The children have enjoyed exploring their outdoor planter and have been looking after their plants beautifully. In maths this week the children have been learning all about 3D shapes. I wonder if they can find any 3D shapes at home? In literacy the children have been writing their own seasonal poems, thinking about their 5 senses as they write them.
This week Year One have been learning about the difference between evergreen and deciduous trees. The children have written their own scientific explanations about how plants grow, reflecting on their learning this half term. In maths they have been measuring the capacity of a range of containers and making comparisons. In art the children have created paintings of trees and flowers, making careful colour choices.
Year Two have been "going bananas" this week, learning and writing about plants and thinking about why bananas can not grow in England. The vicar visited to talk about the Christian festival of Easter, it was really interesting to ask and hear his responses to questions. The creativity continued with the creation of Easter cards using a new technique and the children were very excited to finish the week with an Easter egg hunt around the school grounds. Everybody is looing forward to a super break with lots of sunshine!
I hope that you all have a lovely Easter break. I look forward to seeing what you have been up to on Tapestry. I look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 15th April to start the Summer term.
