IES Gran CapitánMadrid
WHAT IS THIS COMMUNITY GUIDE ABOUT?
This community guide is about food in Madrid and the different types of products we have in our shops.
In our community, we have a variety of products and options for people from other countries or beliefs. In this book you have some examples of our shop variety.
Most of the shops and restaurants that are in the map are in places with very easy access and in pedestrian zones. All these places are near our school and where we live.
In the map, a small description will be displayed about the place in that zone and what they can offer you.
AVAILABILITY
The squid sandwich is very typical in our city!
There are many restaurants and supermarkets around our school area with a great variety of healthy and fresh food. Most of the supermarkets are available 24h, and restaurants are open most of the day. Most of the food comes from other regions, like coastal or rural areas.
ACCESSIBILITY
The places we chose to talk about on the map are in the school area. As the school is almost in the center of Madrid, there are a lot of ways to access all the places we chose. You can access them by metro, by bus, by taxi, by car or you can walk.

Supercor, Carrefour, Ahorramas and Mercadona are examples of very popular markets here that are easily accessible. There are also some restaurants and traditional markets that are popular and also easy to access.
COST
Food in Madrid is not cheap, that’s for sure but it’s neither too expensive. A meal for one in a cheap restaurant would approximately cost you 12€. A meal for two people in an average restaurant would approximately cost you 50€. In supermarkets, food is ok and there is a big variety, like meat, fish, vegetables, fruit…
There are other places like McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC... that cannot be qualified as restaurants or supermarkets. They’re just places that serve dirty and unhealthy but yummy food. These places are very cheap. In conclusion, the restaurants and supermarkets have an average cost.
