Attendance and Punctuality
As a school we aspire to high standards of attendance and punctuality from all pupils and parents. At Holy Spirit we strive to build a culture where all our children can and want to, be in school every day on time and ready to learn. The law entitles every child of compulsory school age to an efficient, full time education suitable to their age. It is the legal responsibility of every parent to make sure their child receives that education. Good attendance and punctuality is a learned behaviour so it is important to develop good patterns of attendance from the outset.
Attendance
If your child is absent from school, you must contact school before 8.30am on 01744 678670 option 1 and leave a message providing the child’s full name, reason for absence and the anticipated length of absence. School will follow this up if your child is off more than one day.

If your child has not arrived before 9.05am and there is no reason for absence provided you will receive a text prompting you to contact school with a reason for the absence. If contact has still not been made by 9:15am our School Attendance Team will telephone your emergency contacts in the priority order that you have provided. If the absence continues without an explanation, further action will be taken to ensure safeguarding. This may involve a home visit from the School Attendance Team or the Local Authority Education Welfare officer. If no reason for absence has been provided the absence will be recorded as ‘unauthorised’ on the official school register. Unauthorised absences may lead to enforcement action by the Local Authority.
Punctuality
Our doors open at 8.35am and the school day starts at 8.45am from Reception to Year 6.

If your child arrives after 8.45am they must enter through the main office to be signed in.
