At Christmas, Serbian people eat bread called 'cesnica', there is a coin hidden in it and who gets the coin will be fortunate in the next year! Grandfather Frost or Christmas Brother gives presents on New Year's Eve.

Hi, everyone from Serbia, We are small rural school from the north of Serbia. The name of our school is Bratstvo jedinstvo, which means brotherhood and tolerance. We have less than 400 students, and in Serbia we are famous for innovations in education. Our students are 7-15 years old,but in this project we will participate with students who are 9. This is our label for European Language Day.

Our school is in a small village, Stara Wieś. In 2018 school was named after „Polskich Dzieci Syberyjskich” ( Polish children who were in Siberia ). The school began to expand this year: the new school building is being constructed at the moment. Our school has got&nbsp;good relations with Japan as these Polish Siberian children were saved by Japanese people in 1920 ies. In our school study children from 6 to 15 years old. We have a school ‘s anthem. Our school is located in a small village Stara Wies near the capital city Warsaw.

XMAS TRADITIONS IN POLAND

Jasełka (Nativity Play)&nbsp; Before Christmas, children in schools and preschools take part in "Jasełka" (Nativity Plays). They are very popular and often more secular than religious. The Christmas story is also sometimes put into modern times.

Christmas tree workshop The Christmas tree is also decorated on Christmas Eve. It is decorated with a star on the top (to represent the Star of Bethlehem), gingerbreads, lights (previously candles) and "bombki" which are baubles and glass ornaments in different shapes (though most often they are spheres). They are usually hand-made, painted or decorated in other way.

Christmas Eve meeting (Wigilia klasowa)&nbsp; The celebration of Christmas in Poland begins on the evening of December 24th. This day is called Wigilia. It is the traditional Christmas Eve vigil supper in Poland. Polish Wigilia begins with the appearance of the first star, which corresponds to the Star of Bethlehem. Usually, children look outside for the first star on Christmas Eve. &nbsp;

GREECE: SCHOOL PRESENTATION 1ο Δημοτικό Σχολείο Πεντέλης Κρυσταλλειο, GREECE

Our school is called "Krystalleio Dimotiko Sholio Pentelis"&nbsp; Krystallis was a benefactor and helped the community build the school. &nbsp; Our school is not very big. It consists of approximately 230 students. &nbsp; It is located in Penteli, a northern suburb of Athens.

Saint Basil is an old man with white beard and red cape. On1st January, Greeks exchange presents and&nbsp;Saint Basil comes to every home on Christmas Eve carrying presents for the children.

POLAND: LET'S DO XMAS CARDS IRIS FOLDING

Making Christmas cards..... The whole experience was quite entertaining. The cards were made using the technique "iris folding". The method involves filling the patterns with overlapping strips of light paper. The stripes are glued in such a way that the center of the pattern creates a kind of crystal - iris. Cut a hole in the base of the size and shape corresponding to the pattern to be glued.&nbsp;

Our school is called&nbsp;Escola Alfred Potrony. &nbsp; It's in&nbsp;Térmens, a small village. It's in Catalonia and is close to Barcelona and the Pyrenees.&nbsp; Alfred Potrony was a teacher who was born in Térmens, his great-grandsons and great-granddaughters are in the school. It's a small school, it has got 82 students from 3 to 12 years old. &nbsp;
