ISTE Standards for Students

Innovative Designer: Students use technology to test theories and to solve open-ended problems. They choose the appropriate digital tool to plan and manage a design process that considers calculated risks in a question or an experiment, they also learn to exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity with the help of these digital tools.

It also helps students think about how the outcomes would change if they change a calculated variable in an experiment or problem.

Proposed activity - Simple pendulum

A demo of the object swinging in the pendulum is created in which students can change the variables so that they can understand the time taken by the object to complete one oscillation. And by changing the given variables, students understand whether these variables have an effect on the time required for one oscillation.

The length and angle of the string, which the object is attached, is changed by the student and they understand that the length is related to the time taken for one oscillation, but the angle is not.
