SUMMARY
Every assessment activity is very useful to assess learners. However, all of them have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example, there are single-focus activities such as multiple-choice questions or true/false questions that are very practical to design, and they give us reliable results. Nevertheless, they test knowledge rather than the use of language.
On the other hand, extended activities such as interviews can test knowledge and use of language, but it is very difficult to focus on particular areas of a learner`s performance. A good solution is to use both types of assessment activity because single-focus activities are helpful for assessing receptive skills, and extended activities are helpful for assessing productive skills.
