Director's Note
Songs for a New World is a blend of musical theatre and song cycle. Each of the songs represent a time in life when you reach a crossroad and you have to make a decision. All of the songs are connected by the theme of finding support and hope in uncertain times, which seems to be fitting for our students, staff, and audience. This group of students and adults has treated our theater space as a place of escape from the world around us.
I would like to thank Dr. Ianni, Dr. Mulhall, Ms. Freeman, and the Board of Education for providing this opportunity to the students. This program has provided a sense of normalcy during a not so normal time. The students have a place to learn about the complexity of theater and the experience it can bring to an audience whether livestream or in person. A very special thank you to Mrs. Lasher, Mrs. Menuzzo, Mr.Leach, Dr. Vacchio, and Mr. Femino for all of their support to ensure the success of this program! I would also like to thank Mr. Rispoli and the custodial staff for all of their assistance. To my team, Mr. Lamendola, Miss Murphy, Ms. Randazzo, and Mr. Femino, you are such an incredible group of talented and passionate artists each in your own field. I am very grateful to have had you by my side during this program. With all of the new obstacles we have been able to maintain the integrity of theater and the power of live performance. Last but never least, I would like to thank all of the students involved in this production. This has been a year like no other, and yet you have risen to the challenge as solution makers. Your enthusiasm and love for what each of you bring to the stage is inspiring. To the seniors, it will not be easy to see you graduate and move on from our stage at OBHS, each of you has been a role model for the younger members of the cast, crew, and pit. I hope you know that you will always be a part of our theater family.
