Head of School WelcomeLoading...
Dear Parents,As we come to the end of this term, I wanted to first reflect on the achievements made by our children. On Monday 13th March the whole school attended the Cornwall Music Festival, and I have to say that every single child made me feel so proud of their efforts; they completed their storytelling with great enthusiasm, were focused throughout, and kept the audience engaged at all times. We then had our recorder trio compete a couple of days later, and once again they performed with such precision, and their pieces sounded beautiful. Well done girls, you showed bravery for getting up & performing not just as a group, but as soloists too, and your commitment to rehearsals was second to none.
We also had one of our Year 5 girls compete in the second round of cross country qualifiers, and she came a very respectful 26th place amongst all the other schools who competed. We are very proud of you, what a super effort.
Another achievement of this term was that our girls celebrated International Women's Day in style, they joined in the biggest ever football session #LetGirlsPlay and were a part of the 475,000 girls who participated, which is a huge & very impressive number! Whether these girls play football out of school or not, it was fantastic to see them all come together & be a part of this movement, showcasing that football is changing for girls, and that now, more than ever, girls football is on the up.
I have to mention the Aspire Connect 40 Relay which took place throughout March, with myself & Mrs. Turner playing our role in delivering the baton to Shortlanesend school. It was a tough, challenging cycle, and words cannot explain how happy we were to arrive at our destination that day, but what a fantastic event to be a part of. The children & staff of Cusgarne did us all proud with the huge congratulations they gave the Aspire team when they arrived from Mount Hawke, and also the tremendous send off that they gave myself & Mrs. Turner. Some of you may or may not have seen that we appeared on BBC Spotlight, lots of children were quick to let us know they'd seen their teachers on the telly! Our children also played their part in the fundraising by participating in a sports afternoon on Friday 8th March, there were a variety of activities (obstacle course, football matches, LEGO tower building & a dance competition, to name a few!) and all children had the opportunity to move around school and test out what was on offer. Thank you to our Year 6 organisers, and also to Miss Medcalf for all her hard work at organising & supporting our school throughout the fundraising. As of Monday 25th March, Aspire schools had raised £4,200 - if you were one of those kind donations, then thank you very much for your support.
