Welcome to the Aspire Academy Trust.

Aspire is a vibrant, highly successful and widely recognised Trust determined to raise standards of educational achievement to the very highest levels.&#160;We don&#8217;t just aim for our children to achieve what is average or expected, but for them to excel both academically and in character.

Breakfast Club We offer a daily Breakfast Club between 0800-0830 for children of all year groups. There is a nominal cost for this, of £2 per child, which is paid for via ParentPay. Children can be booked into Breakfast Club on a week by week basis if desired.

After School Clubs We offer a variety of after school clubs for all year groups, on Monday and Wednesday until 4pm and these are open to all children in our school. Previously clubs have included: a variety of sports, dance, art, cookery, construction, photography, chess and drama. After school clubs are offered free of charge. We offer Wrap Care five day per week 3-4pm and 4-5pm and there is a small charge of £4 per hour, and these sessions can be booked flexibly when you need them. We also offer private music lessons through the Cornwall Music Service Trust.

Welcome to Cusgarne Primary School 2023-24

Our Early Years class is called the Robin Class, and is a mixed Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 class taught by Mrs Turner and Mrs Denton, our Early Years specialist, supported by two TA's, and with focused group work led by Mr Barnard. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Our classroom is big, bright, and bursting with energy!&nbsp;The children quickly settle into our Class family and together we explore, learn new skills and enjoy our time at school. Each term we have a topic and base our learning around this, either through teacher directed or child-initiated activities. We start every day with a class wake and shake activity before settling into our lessons. At Cusgarne we want to nurture a love for learning and we do this through an exciting range of activities that engage and excite the children. We do this in a supportive, caring and encouraging environment, and celebrate children's successes and achievements.

Trauma Informed Schools UK is a registered community interest company working in association with the Centre for Child Mental Health. It provides training to ensure that every adult in a school or community has the skills and understanding to respond appropriately to the relational and emotional needs children may display. TiS supports schools to create a mentally healthy environment and culture in which all within the school community, adults and children alike, can flourish and achieve. It advocates a whole school response and evidenced based relational approaches to provide an enriched environment to buffer the impact of stress that may&#160;result from adversity and painful life events. In addition, specially trained Trauma and Mental Health Informed Practitioners offer targeted intervention&#160;to&#160;children who may be experiencing challenges within their life that without support may act as a barrier to&#160;their ability to fully engage with life and learning.&#160;

Our school uniform is bright, smart and comfortable, and we encouraage our children to take pride in their appearance. We've even known of children that have worn their uniform in the summer holidays in excited anticipation! Tapestry is an easy-to-use and secure online learning journal that helps staff and families across Aspire academies celebrate their children’s learning and development both at school and home. Tapestry facilitates this by enabling a personal journal that builds over time. Photographs, videos and notes of special moments will be made available regularly to you via your iPhone or Android App. More details on how to activate your Tapestry account will be shared once your child starts.

Our school dinners are provided by Aspens, a dedicated school catering company who specialise in the delivery of freshly prepared hot and cold meals to school each day, using high quality locally sourced ingredients. Children in EYFS, years 1 and 2 are entitled to a Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM) daily. Dinners can be ordered on a daily basis. We want all of our children to have a healthy, balanced and nutritious diet, to fuel their learning and energy. We encourage those having school dinners to try new foods and to be adventurous! Children also have the option to bring in a home packed lunch if they wish.

Every academy within the Aspire Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
