The anaconda is the world’s heaviest snake. They live in South America. They live in streams, rivers and swamps. Since they’re ectothermic, they can’t make their own body heat. To warm up, they sun themselves in trees.
Anacondas are great at swimming. They can hold their breath for 10 minutes or more! This helps them hunt.
This is an anaconda hunting its prey. They eat animals such as deer and alligators.
Anacondas eat their prey whole. They have strong muscles to squeeze prey to death.
I get low into the water to sneak up on my prey.

It takes an anaconda a long time to take in its food.
It lies on riverbank or in water hardly moving at all.
After a big meal an anaconda may not need to eat again for several weeks or even months. then it goes hunting again.
