First celebrated in 1903, the Rose Festival is an important event in the Bulgarian calendar. It takes place every year in Kazanlak during the first weekend of June and is dedicated to Bulgarian’s famous damascene roses, which were brought from Syria doing the 17th century. Bulgaria is world-famous fir its beautiful pink roses and rose products. 
Grandma Martha is a mythical character in Bulgarian folklore. Its name is related to the name of March. Three are the months that are personified in the Bulgarian mythical ideas - January, February and March. January and February are portrayed as hot-brothers - Goliam Sechko and Malko Sechko. Baba Martha is considered to be her sister, who is smiling and well-meaning, then unpredictably evil.

Bulgaria celebrates May 24 as the day of the Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavic Script, the official Day of Holy Brothers St. Cyril and St. Methodius - the Byzantine scholars who wrote the first Slavic alphabet in 855.
