Bulgaria celebrates May 24 as the day of the Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavic Script, the official Day of Holy Brothers St. Cyril and St. Methodius - the Byzantine scholars who wrote the first Slavic alphabet in 855.

Bulgaria's liberation covers events related to the establishment of Bulgarian statehood after a five hundred-year Ottoman domination. This happens as a result of the National Revival, which led to the recognition of the Bulgarian Exarchy and to the organization of the April Uprising. The uprising gave Russia a reason to start the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878).On 3 March in San Stefano, near Istanbul, the peace treaty between Russia and the Ottoman Empire was signed, which established the beginning of free Bulgaria.

First celebrated in 1903, the Rose Festival is an important event in the Bulgarian calendar. It takes place every year in Kazanlak during the first weekend of June and is dedicated to Bulgarian’s famous damascene roses, which were brought from Syria doing the 17th century. Bulgaria is world-famous fir its beautiful pink roses and rose products.&nbsp;

Grandma Martha is a mythical character in Bulgarian folklore. Its name is related to the name of March. Three are the months that are personified in the Bulgarian mythical ideas - January, February and March. January and February are portrayed as hot-brothers - Goliam Sechko and Malko Sechko. Baba Martha is considered to be her sister, who is smiling and well-meaning, then unpredictably evil.

Kukeri&nbsp;are elaborately costumed&nbsp;Bulgarian&nbsp;men, and sometimes women, who perform traditional rituals intended to scare away evil spirits. Closely related traditions are found throughout the&nbsp;Balkans&nbsp;and&nbsp;Greece. The costumes cover most of the bod and include decorated wooden masks of animals (sometimes double-faced) and large&nbsp;bells&nbsp;attached to the belt. Around&nbsp;New<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Year">&nbsp;</a>Year&nbsp;and before&nbsp;Lend, the kukeri walk and dance through villages to scare away evil spirits with their costumes and the sound of their bells. They are also believed to provide a good harvest, health, and happiness to the village during the year.
