Learning Advance 2022

One place I found amazingly beautiful so far at Loon Lake is the rope ferry.  I really enjoyed sailing across the lake because it was really beautiful.

Today, we had a mini lesson on our topic about the Renaissance.  We learnt how to identify if an event was significant and how it was important.   We used a process called N.A.M.E,  it is an acronym starting with novelty, applicability, memory and effects.  I think that this skill sort of connects to the core competency critical and reflective thinking, profile 4.  We had to combine evidence to produce new ideas.

The lake is very beautiful, in the morning it is like a mirror.

Doing the outdoor activities are quite fun.

For this activity, we played silent ball.  I think that this activity ties in with the compentency communication, profile 4.  We had to try and communicate to our friends without talking.

I found that this field study was fun, I really enjoyed doing all the activites the teachers provided.  One thing that I think that I could have done better was sleeping.  Sometimes, my roommates would get into a conversation and would stay up pretty late.

Hello!  My name is Christian and I am a grade 8 PLP learner.  I enjoy many different things, ranging from badminton to piano.  I currently am in my final grade for piano and swim semi-competitively.

Today, we learnt how to use SuperImpose X.  Super Impose is a powerful software that allows you to edit photos.  We will be using this app  when we create our tryptych this project.  Make sure to check my blog to see if it is out.

Later that day, we had to build shelters with our classmates.  I think that this activity requires the competency social awareness and responsibility, we had to interact with each other thoughtfully.  We also had to make sure that we didn’t take any greenery from the environment.

Inside Destination Imagination, we have written out our whole script.   However, we still need to build and budget all our props.  Inside Loon Lake, we plan to practice our script multiple times and to budget out items.

When we arrived at Loon Lake, we started off by doing a photo scavenger hunt.  I paired up with Charlie and we got some decent shots.  One thing that was also really cool was that we got to go across a barge that we had to pull.

For the next 4 days, PLP 8 and 9 will be going to Loon Lake.  It is about a 48 minute drive from our school.  While we are there, we are going to do some cool activities that I am looking forward to.
