Theo joined the Romano Family on July 16th 2023, from the small town of Lucknow, Ontario where Theo was born with his 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Theo stole Orla's heart by being the most shy, and calm puppy in the litter. Theo is a Miniature Cockapoo (Cockerspaniel and Poodle mix). Currently, Theo is four months old and weighs about 15 pounds but full grown Theo is expected to be 25 pounds!When Theo Joined the Romano Family he was a bit of a surprise for the Romano parents as they were on an anniversary trip to Europe when Theo arrived home! Since graduating from undergrad, Orla thought that the time was right to get a new puppy.

On June 16th, 2019 the Romano's thought it was just going to be a typical Father's Day, but instead they ended up driving 20 minutes south of Hamilton, Ontario to Cayuga. Where they were greeted by Linda's son, the owner of the breeder Doodle Lane. Doodle Lane is known for breeding Australian Labradoodles in Ontario.It wasn't long before the entire Romano family fell in love with there brand new puppy, which they named Murphy. Murphy is a miniature Aussiedoodle, which is a cross between an Australian Sheppard and a Poodle. Murphy is now full grown and weights 35 pounds.

With a 4 year age gap between Murphy and Theo, they quickly became the best of friends. Murphy is a very anxious dog but since Theo Joined the family, we saw a whole new side of him. He is so much calmer and such a great role model for Theo! Every night Murphy sleeps outside of Theo's crate to protect him and keep him company. Both dogs play together everyday and have developed a very strong sibling bond and they do everything together.
REFLECTION
As a teacher candidate in the Primary/Junior stream, I believe that assistive tools can be leveraged to make learning more fun and engaging for students. Book Creator is a flexible digital tool that can be used successfully in an elementary school classroom to develop creativity, reading skills, writing skills, and digital literacy. I plan to integrate assistive technology into my future elementary school classroom because it can be used to reach and engage students.
Although I was initially apprehensive about creating a children's book, I enjoyed the activity and was happy with my final product. I believe Book Creator is a fantastic tool to incorporate in an elementary school classroom because it is a different tool for student's to show what they know and to learn versus just writing a paragraph. This may be effective or engaging kinaesthetic learners and those with disabilities that struggle with writing.
Overall, I found Book Creator to be a fun and very engaging tool that I will be sure to use in my future classroom! I also plan to get familiarized with other assistive technologies that can help to bring learning alive for my future students.
