The Power of Gratitude

By Tahirah S.
Comic Panel 1
As we enter the holiday season, we can use this opportunity to reflect on the people and things we are grateful for. Even if things are not perfect, we can all choose to focus on being grateful.

What is Gratitude?
Gratitude is being appreciative and thankful for the people, things, places and experiences in your life.

Why Is Gratitude Important?
Gratitude is important because it helps people feel better about themselves, improve their mental state/emotions, help them with their self-love, and build a strong relationship with others.

Nick Vujicic is now 33 years old. He was born with a rare disorder known as Phocomelia. When growing up in Australia, he went through mental, emotional, and physical problems from being bullied which led to him attempting to commit suicide at the age of 10. While growing up, Nick realized that his disability made him special and unique. Nick started to talk to big groups of people who thought they were different and felt insecure about themselves. Nick’s words inspire people to notice that their “differences” are actually a gift from God.

The moral of Nick’s story is to be grateful for what you have and embrace your life.

Be sure to show appreciation to your family, friends, and your life during this holiday season.
