West Port High School is the home of three academic Magnet Programs as well as a Career Academy.

-Marion County Center for the Arts (MCCA)
-Early College Program
-Biomedical Academy
-Global Logistics

All of these programs provide students with the experiences necessary to be successful in today’s highly competitive academic and professional atmosphere. 

WPHS realizes that the high school experience is about strengthening one’s passions as well as developing new and exciting possibilities. With that thought in mind, WPHS encourages students to have it all by involvement in one or more of our magnet programs as well as in our large selection of Advanced Placement (AP) classes and Career and Technical areas.

GPA – 3.0 or higher
Exemplary attendance and discipline record
A score of 3 or higher on FSA exams

Students who are accepted into MCCA, Early College, Biomedical, or Global Logistics may attend WPHS regardless of their school assignment.

Applications for all magnet and career academies will be available on November 30, 2022 and will close on January 31, 2023. To learn more about the application process, visit the School Choice Office at MCPS School Choice

Program Information
The Marion County Center for the Arts (MCCA) is a visual and performing arts magnet program at West Port High School with over 800 students enrolled from within and around the county.

Eleven professional artists and creative educators comprise the arts faculty, which is dedicated to students’ growth in the arts and academics.

This prestigious arts program has been recognized as an Arts Achieve Model School in all four arts categories: visual art, dance, music, and theatre and has maintained the title of Florida Arts Model School for the past 15 years.

The Marion County Center for the Arts (MCCA) is nationally recognized as a Magnet Schools of America School of Excellence. Brochure
