Pärnu&nbsp;is the fourth largest&nbsp;city&nbsp;in&nbsp;Estonia (51&nbsp;334 residents). Located in southwestern Estonia on the coast of&nbsp;Pärnu Bay, an inlet of the&nbsp;Gulf of Riga&nbsp;in the&nbsp;Baltic Sea.&nbsp;&nbsp;Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia, is 128 kilometres north of Pärnu. Pärnu is a popular summer&nbsp;holiday&nbsp;resort with many&nbsp;hotels,&nbsp;restaurants, and large&nbsp;beaches. The&nbsp;Pärnu River&nbsp;flows through the city and drains into the Gulf of Riga.&nbsp;People have lived here, at the mouth of the river, for 11,000 years. The history books mention the City of Pärnu for the first time in 1251.

Þingeyjarsveit Thingeyjarssveit is located in north of Iceland. The size of Thingeyjarsveit county is about 6000 square-kilometers but the population is only around 900. There are two small elementary schools, three kindergartens and one secondary school in the community. Some of the children have to sit in the school bus for almost an hour each way, every school day. The people have different kinds of jobs, i.e. farming, tourism and teaching. One of Iceland´s few forests is in the area and some people work there and quite many drive to the nearest town Akureyri for work. That can be difficult when the weather is bad at wintertime.&nbsp; The picture shows the secondary school and the local sport centre of our community which is 22 km away from Stórutjarnaskóli.

We go to school from Monday to Friday Primary school starts at 08:30 until 16:30 (from 12:30 to 14:30 we have lunch and play time). Junior Secondary School (middle school) has classes from 8 to 14.

Due to COVID-19 spread, the school has been modified in its classrooms. The two English labs in the primary school as well as the ITC room have been converted into other classes to enlarge spaces. We do our best to create an active environment every day.

Buccinasco Castle (GPS location: 45°24'27.5"&nbsp;N&nbsp;- 09°06'28.16"&nbsp;E) was built around the end of the 14th century and then readapted in the 1400s and 1500s when it gained the characteristics it still has. Ludovico il Moro was confirmed to stay in the castle in 1463. It used to be a defensive location being on the way between Milan and Pavia, therefore it became a nobiliary residence (especially used by the nobles when they went to the countryside for hunting activities). This castle is now a private property.

This monument is really particular for the square-plan in closed block, with exposed bricks. On the northern facade there is a portico of five bays with round arches and columns. On the first floor there is a porch loggia.

Our school is called «&nbsp;Frank / Benoît Elementary School&nbsp;». In our school there are 300 students and 12 classes (it's the school in Arles with the highest number of pupils). It is located in the city of Arles, on the banks of the Rhône. Until the 1960's, there were 2 schools : 1 for girls, named Anne Frank and 1 for boys, called André Benoît. Anne Frank was a German Jewish girl who wrote her famous "Diary" in which she tells her underground life. She died at 16. André Benoît was a resistance fighter who lived in Arles during the Second World War.

School is compulsory from 3 to 16 years. In primary school, children don't go to school on Wednesdays. They start school at 8:30 am and finish at 4:30 pm. They have 2 breaks of 20 minutes and a lunch break from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Some students eat in the canteen and others at home. There are 2 weeks of vacation in November, Christmas, February and April and almost 2 months every summer!

Pärnu Kuninga Street Basic School is situated in the school building founded in 1875. A large number of politicians from the first government of the Republic of Estonia, many cultural and music action figures have studied in this building. The school is located in the center of Pärnu. •Students: 520 (in grades 1-9) -62 students among them have a simplified curriculum because of their different special needs, including educational ones •Teachers : 55

Arles is located in the south east of France. It has 53,000 inhabitants. The symbol of the city is the lion. Arles is the largest municipality in France, 758 km2 ! The city was founded 2,500 years ago. Arles became a Roman colony in -46, it is Arelate. It preserves many monuments from this period (an amphitheater, a theater, thermal baths ...). In 2008, divers found a bust of Julius Caesar in the Rhône, the river that crosses Arles. Vincent Van Gogh has lived in Arles during 15 months. He painted 200 pictures and wrote more than 200 letters in our city. Twice a year, in September and in Easter, there is the Feria, a huge party all over the city. Every summer, there are the Rencontres Internationales de la Photo (RIP) with photo exhibitions all over the city.

Luma Arles is an arts center in Arles. It features a tower building designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry for the Luma Foundation. The tower is 56 meters high. It's composed of 10 floors. The construction of the tower began in 2014 and ended in 2021. The building features 11,000 different stainless steel panels. For the building Gehry took some of his inspiration from the dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh who lived in Arles at the end of the 19th century. This center belongs to the Swiss art collector and businesswoman Maja Hoffmann. The building includes many exhibition spaces, a library, an auditorium, a café, restaurants...

On 23 February 1918, Estonia's Independence Manifesto was first read out on the balcony of the theatre Endla in Pärnu. This monument is in memory of it.

The buildings of our school are rather big because this used to be a boarding school but it´s not anymore. It has a sports hall inside but outside there is a swimming pool with 30°C hot water, playground, soccer field and basketball court. The school starts at 8:30 and ends at 15:20.&nbsp;After the first lesson we have 20 minutes breakfast break and 40 minutes lunch break. The meals are free of charge for the children.&nbsp;

In this collaborative eBook, each partner of the project presents his city and his school. Firstly, each partner offers a picture of his school, of a classroom and of one monument of his city.&nbsp; In a second time, the others partners put on their mathematician glasses and must research on the pictures geometric shapes.

Our comprehensive school is made up of 2 preschools, 2 primary schools ("Robbiolo" addressed to bilingual education/CLIL and "Robarello" with a "without a backpack" project) and 1 middle school. The school curriculum is mainly addressed to: - plurilingual skills (and multicultural feelings), - citizenship (and digital citizenship), - STEM-STEAM-STEAMe.

Most students in our school come from a wealthy society. There is also a percentage of adopted students or students coming from a foster house nearby.

Our school is an awarded Cambridge preparation centre as well!

We go to school from Monday to Friday. We start at 8.00 and our schoolday ends usually at 14.00. We have breaks of 20 minutes&nbsp;after every 45 minutes. School in Estonia is compulsory from 7  to 16 years. We have one week holiday usually after every 8 weeks. We have two weeks holiday on Christmas time and almost 3 months in summer (usually 10.06- 01.09).

Our monument is the Goðafoss waterfall. The monument we choose is not made by humans but it is the biggest tourist-attraction in the area and played important role in our history. The river Skjálfandafljót begins in Iceland's biggest glacier Vatnajökull and runs to the sea. There are many beautilful waterfalls in the river, the most famous one, Goðafoss, is one of Iceland's biggest tourist-magnet. Goðafoss is only 5 min. drive from Stórutjarnaskóli. People have lived in Iceland since the ninth century and believed in the Pagan gods, i.e. Thor, Odin and Freya. The year 1000 they decided to adopt Christianity and one of the leaders of parlament took the statues of his Pagan Gods and threw them into the waterfall. Since then it has been called The waterfall of the Gods, or Goðafoss in Icelandic.

The Icelandic school in Stórutjarnaskóli

Our school, Stórutjarnaskóli, is located in Thingeyjarsveit, a community in North Iceland. It´s a country school and almost all the children live on a farm. The school was built in 1971 and we have just celebrated its 50th anniversary. We have a kindergarten with 7 children and an elementary school with 35 children in the same building. There is also musical department in the school and most of the children can play one or more instruments.&nbsp;

Buccinasco is located 7 kilometres (4 miles) southwest from Milan. Milan is in the region of Lombardy, in northern Italy.

Buccinasco is a municipality of the Metropolitan City of Milan, located 7 km southwest of Milan. The comune (municipality) was created in 1841 and has been an agricultural centre until the 1950s when, due to a high range of immigration from Southern Italy and its closeness to Milan, the municipality started to grow and become more industrial. A lot of buildings were designed and sold in a blink of an eye. Buccinasco is also famous for its anthropic lakes and the high percentage of green areas.
