HOW THE TIGER GOT ITS STRIPES
In the beginning, when no humans roamed the Earth, all animals had to hunt for their own food. However, the Tiger, who was bright orange, couldn’t catch prey very well due to its cheerful, luminous fur. Most days, the Tiger would venture out to catch its prey; it often didn’t return with anything. If anyone asked him how many animals he’d caught, he would simply reply, “GO AWAY!” Just, “GO AWAY!”
Early one Monday morning, a Panther -jet-black in colour- slowly crept towards Tiger causing him to jump!
“Good morning Tiger!” exclaimed the Panther, “Would you like to come hunting with me?”
“GO AWAY!”
Offended, the Panther sprinted away wondering what he could have said to make the Tiger so upset.
Soon after, the Jaguar -playfully jumping around- came up to the Tiger.
“Hello Tiger! Do you want to come and hunt with me?” screeched Jaguar, in an excited tone.
“GO AWAY!” boomed the Tiger. How rude, thought the Jaguar, now a little less playful.
That afternoon, the leopard- proud of her golden fur and dark patches- elegantly tiptoed towards him.
“Hello there Tiger, do you want to come hunting with me?”
“GO AWAY!” yelled the Tiger.
Flabbergasted and upset, the Leopard raced off holding back tears.

After going days with barely any food, the Tiger was getting tired, weak and skinny! Upset, angry and left out, he wanted to give up hunting for food. All the other animals were good at hunting however, he couldn’t fit in. If he gives up he’ll die! Tigers can’t go extinct already! How can he catch prey without it running away?
Inspired by the Leopard’s spots, the Tiger now wanted his own way of camouflage. However, he wants to be unique and have stripes not spots! Mud! He can cover himself in mud to create stripes.
At the ditch, the Tiger wiped mud on his fur with his paws. The next day, the Tiger, who was beaming with excitement, caught a lot of prey whilst hunting.
He was so proud!
Proving the other animals wrong: the Tiger was catching prey everyday without fail. From that day to this, the Tiger has always been known as one of the best land predators. To help it camouflage, it still has its famous stripe as a feature and it will be forever known for that. Unfortunately, the Tiger hasn’t ever caught up with the three days of catching prey at the beginning of the world.
