The Task
1. Students will view and read tutorials on making one self propelled car out of upcycled materials.
2. Design (draw) your Rubber Band Racer on a blank piece of paper. Make sure you label your design. (Required)
3. Build your racer out of upcycled materials.
4. Test your prototype. Make necessary changes to improve your design. Make modifications to your Racer so it can travel longer distances.
5. Math Challenge - Find the average of 3 distance trials. Enter data in Math Challenge page.
6.Showcase - Share your Rubber Band Racer to world. Explain the process from design to completed car on Book Creator.

Extension - Rubber Band Racer Competition. Whose Rubber Band Racer will travel the farthest?
Students who demonstrate understanding can:
3-5-ETS1-1.Define a simple design problem reflecting a need or a want that includes specified criteria for success and constraints on materials, time, or cost.3-5-ETS1-2.Generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
3-5-ETS1-3.Plan and carry out fair tests in which variables are controlled and failure points are considered to identify aspects of a model or prototype that can be improved.

Math Challenge - Average Distance Traveled
My average ended up being 23 inch and 2 cm
