Once upon a time there was a cabin in Appalachia. The cabin was built in early 1800's. The cabin held a family of two boys and one girl and a mother and a father.

The family had just gone through a really bad winter. The father Jacob constantly went out hunting and fishing. The family did not have a lot food left in their storage because of the bad winter.

During the hard winter last year the Native Americans raided their cabin. The family had three sons but the Native Americans captured one son. During the raid the Native Americans burned the cabin so they had to make another cabin in the early spring.
Jacob taught his children how to shoot guns and shoot a bow. The children constantly went out hunting like their father.
Spring had arrived and mother Nancy had started a garden. Some of the children worked on the garden some went out hunting. The family didn't want to starve this winter like they did the last.
After fall the family knew winter was there because there was a terrible snow storm. Although they worked hard during spring, summer, and fall The family only ate one meal day because they didn't have a lot of food . The family was starving.
Everybody in the family went out hunting but didn't have much luck. They were starving and freezing.
