Introduction

Gentoo Penguins live in Antarctica, falkland islands, south georgia and kerguelen island. It has a yellowish-red beak, black head with a white mark above each eye and a tail. They weigh up to 85kg. 51 to 90 cm is their height.

Adult Gentoo Penguins venture about 24 kilometers (15 mils) from the colony for food for their chicks. During deep dives Gentoo Penguins reduce their heat 80-100 beats per minute. Lives of a Gentoo Penguins last 115-20 years. Sliding on their tummy is one way they travel. They swish their tail as they waddle along the ice. They are the the fastest swimming bird.
A colony is a big group of penguins.

Adaptations
Their bodies are are streamlined so they don't get dragged to much by the water. They have thick skin and lots of blubber to keep them warm in the cold water. They have tightly paced feathers to keep warm and for water proof. They have webbed feet to swim faster in the water. When they are cold they huddle (hug) together to keep warm. Adult Gentoo Penguins make 450 dives a day. Their belly's are white so when they are swimming, from under neath they look like part of the sky and when you look from the top it looks like they are part of the sea.
Streamlined is where the end of the vehicle or animal is rely sharp so it can cut through the air or water.
Webbed is where their feet skin is stretched.
