Idea and Supervision by Anabela Gonçalves
There are still reasons to celebrate. Yes, even now. Especially now. Every day. 23rd April is one of those precious occasions: it combines World Book and Copyright Day with English Language Day, the date traditionally observed as the birthday and death of William Shakespeare. As one of the six working languages among the UN community and a key factor to harmonious and effective communication amongst peoples, English stands on its own.
This year in AESC, we are proud to signal these two celebrations by bringing students and former students together with a common goal – a live e-book that brings us voices, reads aloud, individual choices and sensitivity to make us remember that English and Portuguese languages weave our students’ souls and go hand-in-hand in scaffolding who they are building themselves into. On their own or with someone else’s guidance. Ours, perhaps. Here, in AESC.
The beauty of language is that we can all use it in our own way... you don’t need to be a professional writer to make a poem, nor be a professional storyteller to make that poem come to life. In here you will find it all!! Famous poems by unknown authors, and unknown texts by famous poets, all read by some of our very own students.
So, whether you are a writer, a reader, a talker, or a listener...a total book worm or the “Sure…I like to read… But I just don’t have the time” type, we hope you will find something in this book that will pique your interest!!
We humbly present you our little memento.

Ainda temos razões para celebrar. Sim, mesmo agora, nestes tempos. Especialmente agora.
