Biomimicry
“Nature is abundance and transformation, beauty and delight. This is exactly what we need in education today!” - Sam Steer
Biomimicry is a science and problem-solving technique with applications in design, architecture, education, business, and more. It charts the path that must be taken in order to apply an idea from nature in our everyday life.
Biomimicry is a natural way of learning about nature from itself. Nature is a teacher, not a resource. It enables a scientific concept to be represented through the life around us. The concept comes to life and becomes easily accessible.
Children perceive the living world in a new way: they become explorers, free to try hands-on and have fun. They acquire basic knowledge and skills, including teamwork and communication. Students learn valuable things: to respect the living world around them and within themselves; what they can do to keep nature and their own environment healthy.
Teachers who have touched this method also have fun with the students and pass on their enthusiasm to them.
We present to you a series of comics presenting biomimicry through the eyes of students from Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Turkey.
