The Falling Star
Getter Kiissel & Lotta Lisell Määrits
Let me tell you a story about myself. It happened when I was around 15 years old. It was a beautiful summer evening. I went for a walk in the forest. Soon I lost track of time and I got lost.
I could not find my way back home. Then I looked up to the sky and saw a star falling towards me. It landed about ten meters from me. I walked up to it and picked it up. It was sparkling, I was amazed. Then I remembered something my mother had told me when I was little, "When you catch a falling star and wish something, the wish will come true."
I thought for a long time and then made up my mind. I wished for a way back home. Suddenly thousands of fireflies appeared, I followed them and found my way. Soon I arrived home but everyone was already asleep, so I thought that I would show them the star the next day. I was so excited because no one in my family had ever caught a falling star. I was very proud of myself. I put the star on my table and went to bed.
But when I woke up, the star had disappeared and there was only a little bit of star dust left. I was confused and sad because I knew that nobody would believe that I had a star.
And still, up to this day, whenever I tell this story to other people, they think that I am just dreaming.
