Basic Plot Summary 

The story is set a month after a comet falls in Japan for the first time in a thousand years. Mitsuha, a high school girl who lives in the countryside, wants to live in the city because she is tired of country life. Then, there is Taki: a student who lives in Tokyo, spends his free time with friends and works part-time at an Italian restaurant. One day, Mitsuha has a dream in which she is a young boy. Conversely, Taki also has a dream in which he is a high school student in the countryside. What secret lies behind their dreams?

Our Praise and Critique

We think this manga/film is very wholesome and beautiful because first of all we love them and they are our passion. "Your Name" has a deep meaning which contain a red thread of destiny (運 命 の 赤 い 糸). Is a popular legend of Chinese origin widespread also in Japan. According to tradition, every person carries, from birth, an invisible red thread tied to the little finger of his/her left hand that binds him/her to their soul mate. The thread also has the characteristic of being indestructible: the two people are destined, sooner or later, to meet and get married. Taki and Mitsuha have to overcome lots of obstacles before they can meet. 
Some part of the story are hard to understand but if you concentrate well you’ll understand everything. 

Recommendation 

The author wanted to give this story a sad ending, but the company ordered him to change it to a happy ending. So luckily they had a happy ending. The author also wrote "Weathering with you" and we really recommend them to the otaku and people who like to read manga and also people who like animations. But the story was also confusing so somebody may not understand everything.
