Take a look at these treasure map examples... What do you notice?

Instructions: Using your iPad, look at the <a href="https://earth.google.com/earth/d/1qoL49TajU-82uZSHjLl5OQP49n6piVxW?usp=sharing">“Pirate treasure!” Google Earth project</a> and read up about the 5 different islands that still have buried Pirate Treasure! Choose ONE of these islands that you want to create a treasure map for. You will create a treasure map that MUST contain the following information: A HEADING (2 marks) A compass rose (showing North, East, West and South) (2 marks) Gridlines – at least 4 columns and 4 rows (must be evenly spaced and labelled) (4 marks) Map key (MINIMUM of 8 keys correctly and neatly done) – must be displayed on the RIGHT-HAND SIDE of the map (8 marks) Drawing of the ISLAND (Outstanding and accurate with ALL items from the map key including a TREASURE CHEST &amp; PIRATE SHIP) (12 marks) ONE BONUS FEATURE THAT MAKES YOUR MAP STAND OUT FROM THE REST (2 marks)

Ahoy me hearties! In this activity, we will be learning about real-life pirates and the treasures that they buried! Then, you will be creating your very own pirate treasure map for ONE of the islands.
