Effort
I have realized over time that I like to finish things before I start something else. This is one of the reasons I don’t like school too much, because we are doing like 4 things at once. So at home I like to give myself small objectives and try to finish them no matter what. For example one summer we had just purchased a boat and I really wanted to be able to drive it. So I went out of my way and spent about 2 hours a day until I got my boating license, and when I finally got it I was so happy that I stuck with it even though it was not very fun. I can use this skill probably when doing big projects because I’ll be determined to finish it.

I think that I have a growth mindset around soccer because when I was younger I tried playing it on a team and I was not good at it at all. Even when my team did well and won the game I felt like I didn’t really contribute at all. I didn’t think that I would get better so I dropped it. I think I could try again on my own and try to build up some skills then maybe I would try it again.

I think that intelligence is more of a made up thing but at the same time it is a very important topic. People think of intelligence as how smart you are and how quick you can process stuff, which is true but people can all be intelligent about different things. For example one person can know like 100 facts about cars off the top of their head but be bad at math, which doesn’t mean the person isn’t intelligent because they aren’t good at math, So I don’t think people should measure peoples levels of intelligence based on only their academic success.
once I got a fixed mindset praise when I was young and started drawing at a really low level and my parents and teachers said that it was really good. So I thought that I was a good artist at the time, but now I’m actually not a great artist.

Persistence
I am willing to fail at writing in order to learn because I am not a great writer but I want to have that skill in the future.
I think that just challenging myself to write a story a week or something like that could help me get better, and I can also write small paragraphs or stories and ask for feedback from my family and friends.
I think this picture represents persistence because even though it is in a very hot dry area, the plant still manages to grow.

To keep my growth mindset while doing this I will make sure to think about the fact that it will give me some important skills. I will also make a list of benefits to being a better writer and look at that when I’m writing.
