Each spring a young community of youth aging from around 9-17 years old gets together for the club spring season. This is the biggest season for club as this is when most tournaments happen. It starts with tryouts in March. Then the practices begin in early April, quickly followed by tournaments starting in mid April. But this year due to covid-19, the season was cancelled this year, this disappointed many of the members of this community.

I chose this photo because it shows how during the spring the players start practicing more.
The reason club basketball is played in the spring is because it cannot overlap with high school basketball which is played in the winter. Club basketball is a great time for the community to come together. In vancity, youth from all north and west van schools come out to play for vancity.

I chose this photo because I think it represents how the vancity community comes together and just plays basketball during the spring. Even though we mostly have around 2-3 practices a week each lasting 1-2 hours we still want to play more.
This person is very sad as they are looking at their schedule without practices and tournaments. This is the way a lot of of the vancity community felt when they didn’t have any practices or games.

I picked this photo because I like how the washed out colours give it a sort of sad vibe.
During the COVID-19 pandemic basketball was left behind. It could not be played due to social distancing measures. But it has not been forgotten.

I chose this photo because of how it portrays basketball being left behind or lost during the covid-19 pandemic.
One of the worst parts of quarantine for many members of this community was not having a hoop to shoot on. Many people found it so tempting just to go use a public hoop. But they knew they couldn’t. I was very lucky to have a hoop to shoot on during quarantine.

I chose this photo because I think it portrays how many people just wanted to go shoot on their neighbourhood hoop but they couldn’t.
