A swallow was flying to Egypt but it stopped to rest on a statue. It was the statue of the "Happy Prince", but the Prince was sad because he could see that the people in his city were poor. He asked the swallow to take the precious stones of his statue to help them. Since it was winter, the swallow died of cold. As a result, the prince died of a broken heart because he loved the Swallow. When the Mayor took the shabby statue down its pillar, an Angel brought the Prince's heart and the swallow to Paradise, where they lived happily together.
