By Eli T, Aidan O and Liam MBobsleigh has been in the Winter Olympics since 1932. It was created in the late 1860s by the Swiss. The bobsleigh is essentially two skeleton sleds attached together with a steering mechanism. For richer tourists, there was a optional chassis.
In the 1950s, it was found that it took athletes with explosive strength to start off the sled. This led to the end of the heavy weight bobsleighing.
The first women's bobsleighing competition was held at the 2002 Winter Olympics.
