This is a summary of my first science experiment, that I did in DCU, as a part of my Science Education Module. We tested the rate at which ice melts the quickest.

My First Science Experiment 

Steps in the Investigation

<ol><li>Observe how quick an ice cube melts in hot water.</li><li>Make a prediction of what you think is going to happen when the ice is covered in different materials.</li><li>Lay out all four ice cubes in a row on the table.</li><li>Wrap all the ice cubes in their designated material (tin foil, bubble wrap or kitchen roll), and leave one bare as a control.</li><li>Set a timer</li><li>Watch the ice cubes to see which one melts the quickest, and which one melts the slowest.</li><li>Record your results.</li><li>Draw up a conclusion.</li><li>Compare results to your beginning prediction. (Were you right?, What was different? etc.)</li></ol>

My Outcome

In conclusion to this experiment, we discovered that the ice that was wrapped in the tin foil melted the quickest, and the ice in the kitchen roll melted the slowest. This came as a shock to me, as my initial prediction was the opposite. I had originally believed that the ice cube wrapped in tin foil would last the longest, and the ice cube with no wrapping would melt the quickest. So, as a result, I object my initial prediction.
