ULURU - AYERS ROCK
It is a sacred place for the Aborigines and the largest monolith in the world, built of characteristic red sandstone. It grows in the heart of the Australian continent from a dry plain. The famous rock is over 318 meters high and 8 kilometers in circumference. It has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Because the rock is made of sandstones, tourists observing it have the impression that it changes colors. In fact, its color – red, orange, pink or gray – depends on the time of day and the angle of sunlight. Near Uluru there is a group of 30 rock monoliths - Kata Tjuta, which means "many heads" in the Aboriginal language. In the past, it was a place of public courts and public punishment.

PINK LAKE HILLIER
The salt lake on Middle Island, part of the Recherche Archipelago, was discovered in 1802 by a British explorer - Matthew Flinders. Its characteristic feature is its unusual pink color. In aerial photos it looks like a stain of paint spilled among the forests. To this day, it is not known where the intense color of the water comes from. Scientists initially believed that the color was the result of high salinity, the presence of marine algae and pink halobacteria, but this was ultimately unable to be proven. Bathing in the lake is completely safe because there are no compounds harmful to humans in the water.
