Insulation is what keeps heat or sound from spreading.
Which material do you think would make the ice melt slowest in the cups? Cotton Wool, Cloth or Nothing? (just the cup)
What materials will I need?
Ice, Cups, Thermometers, Timer, Insulation Material (Cotton, Towels, etc.), Pen & Paper
Doing the experiment
This experiment is testing what materials can insulate heat the best. What we are looking for is which material keeps the ice at its cold temperature for the longest
To find this out we will place ice into different cups with thermometers and then wrap the cups in our different materials. After every 3 minutes we will write down what temperature the ice is inside the cups. We will do this about 7 or 8 times to get a good result
