We learnt about another Christian story 'The calming of the storm'. We read the story from 'The Children's Bible' and watched a video about it and talked about what was the same and different. We then looked at an image by the artist Rembrandt and talked about how the disciples might have been feeling.

We have been practising our observational drawing skills this half term. Did you know you have to look really closely at the picture you are drawing and keep looking back at it as you draw? What do you think of the our drawings of the Giant's shoes?

How lovely to see so many characters from different Traditional Tales.  We had a very busy day starting with a parade and some dancing.  We then made wands and crowns for all the Prince and Princesses.

We have been reading lots of Traditional Tales and have found that some of the main characters do not make the best choices to help keep themselves safe. We thought about 'safe strangers' and all those people that we don't know, but who are there to help us.

Observational drawing - Our tree in Spring

The trunk is white but it has bits of brown too.

Today we enjoyed the sunshine and made observational drawings of our class tree. At last we could see some of the new leaves starting to appear. We really looked hard to see the shapes and colours on the trunk and branches. Everyone worked really hard to draw what they could see and show the changes.

We have been learning that different religions have their own special books which they believe contain teachings from their Gods.

First we looked at some Bibles from the Christian faith. We saw that it contained lots of very small writing and is split into two parts.

I wonder what stories we will share from them?

.....and built a castle for all the different characters to live in.

We have been learning all about water and why it is important for us to drink it.  We know that our body is made of water and we lose some of it during the day, especially when it is hot.  Drinking water keeps our body healthy.

If it doesn't get soil and sunlight and mud it will die. Robyn

We loved pretending to be Knights, training our horses. We had lots of races and were good sports (although there was quiet a bit of cheating going on!!).

This half terms we have been lucky enough to have Mrs. Hardman working with us to create a dance. We have been making a dance based on the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. Have a look at some of the videos and see if you think we did a good job?

We have had our first visits to the Computer Room where we have been developing our mouse skills to log on and access some new programmes. This can be tricky and a little frustrating especially when we forget that the monitors are not touch screens.

As we move towards starting Year 1 we are working hard on our independent sentence writing. As a reward for our effort, perseverance and determination the children can be awarded the 'Super Sentence' writers cape to wear for the day.

They have grown bigger and fatter.&#160; They are eating their food.

So they turned into cocoons - its a little house made of sticky stuff and wood. Felix

We had special visitors this half term. They arrives as caterpillars and left as butterflies. This gave us the perfect opportunity to recap over all our learning about lifecycles from last half term. We watched the caterpillars grow big and fat, turn into chrysalides and released them into our wildflower meadow. 

We have been trying to grow our very own beanstalk. We planted a runner bean seed and thought carefully about the things it needs to help it grow. We decided on; soil, water, sun and light. Every week we are looking at the bean to see whether there are any changes and recording them in our very own bean diaries.

In our special RE memory bag we decided to put in a small figure, a large figure, a stone and a sheep to help remind us of the story.

We had to mix blue and yellow to get green. Henry

We mixed paint to create beanstalks. We mixed yellow and blue to make green. We then used the paint to create our very own beanstalks.

I used a big paintbrush to get lots of colour. Edward

Using key words past and present we looked at different images to think about how things have changed from when Jack &amp; the Beanstalk was set and today. We compared....
