OUR LIFE BEFORE AND DURING THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

ABOUT THIS PROJECT WORK
This ebook was created with the works done by classes 2A and 2B in Distance Learning during school closure because of the Coronavirus outbreak.
It served a twofold goal: a didactic one and a psychological one.
First, as part of the curriculum, it was necessary to introduce Simple Past. So I was looking for a practical activity to deal with this important grammar topic.
Second it was as much important to think about our present situation and find positive things to go on.
To start with, students read a text in their textbook about life on the International Space Station where astronauts explained what their life is like. Similarities with our social lockdown could be easily found.
Pupils were then asked to write about their daily routine during Coronavirus lockdown started at the end of February. This was the excuse to revise the daily routine in the present tense and introduce the simple past to talk about daily routines in the past before school closure. Other more creative activities about understanding what Coronavirus is, what we can do to prevent its spread and how we were spending time in our lockdown were suggested.

OUR LIFE AFTER THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK
The Coronavirus outbreak in Europe and Italy affected our lives deeply and dramatically. A lot of people got ill and many died. Schools were closed. People's daily routine changed and we all had to live with the fear of getting infected. Health measures were introduced to prevent the spread of the virus some of which also limited our freedom. But it was a necessary sacrifice. Luckily starting from 18th May we have been allowed more freedom to move.
During this period our daily life has continued with school online lessons everyday. In this section of the ebook we would like to tell you about how our routine during the coronavirus lockdown was like. From some viewpoints it is similar to that of the astronauts in the International Space Station that everyday have to accomplish routine duties but also find some time to relax.
