My Summer Fun - Part 3

In this book you will find lots of fun things that you can do together as a family over the summer break. They will include art and craft activities, science experiments you can do at home, Forest School activities and brilliant books you can share with your family.

Don't forget to take lots of photos to post on either Tapestry or Seesaw so your new class teacher and teaching assistant can see what you have been getting up to!

Forest School and Outdoor Learning

A Natural Collage

You will need: paper, pens or pencils, natural objects of your choice and glue

1) Choose something you would like to create a picture of and draw the basic outline/design.

2) Think about what natural objects could be used to fill in some of the shapes of your drawing and go an collect them.

3) Stick them on (e.g. leaves being the wing of the butterflies).

4) Take a photo of your art work to remember how it looked and remember to post it on Seesaw or Tapestry for you class teacher and teaching assistant to see.

Arts and Craft

Mice Corner Book Marks

You will need: paper, scissors, coloured pens (pink and black) and glue.

1) Fold an A4 piece of paper in half and cut down the line.
2) Fold a corner of the paper to form a triangle and cut of the extra strip (unfolded this will form a square). Use the smaller piece to create a mini corner book mark.
3) Fold the bottom two corners to the top point and then unfold them.
4) Take the top point and fold it down to the bottom of the triangle and then tuck in the corner folds.
5) Using the spare paper cut out two mouse ears.
6) Use the coloured pens to decorate your mouse.
7) Stick in your ears and now you are ready to get reading!

Science Fun

Invisible Ink

You will need: a lemon, some water, a teaspoon, a cotton bud and a water spray

1) Get a lemon.

2) Ask a grown up to cut it in half.

3) Squeeze out the juice and add 1-2 teaspoons of water and mix.

4) Use a cotton bud to draw or write a message on a piece of paper and leave it to dry.

5) Spray water on your picture or message to be able to see it again. Perhaps you could draw or write an invisible message for someone on your family.

Christopher Columbus is a Spanish Explorer. At the age of 10, which is twice as old as some of you, he went to sea. He found sea journeys very exciting and travelled to many places.
