A is for Apple Orchards by Eli Goldberg

My topic for Michigan research is Apple Orchards. Apple orchards are important to Michigan because 825 family farms depend on their apple orchards for a living. These families need money for food, clothes and other resources. The apple industry also provides 700-900 million dollars to the state every year.

Something you should know about apple orchards is that our lives are affected by apple orchards because today because 825 families run apple orchards to make money and products for Michigan. Apple products are apple pie, apple cider and much much more. Then Michigan sells those products to make money. It makes me wonder why Michigan makes so many products.

Did you know that there is a group that represents apple orchards? I bet you didn't well let me tell you about them. The Michigan Apple Committee was originally established as the Michigan State Apple Commission in 1939. The Commission is a group that represents Michigan apple orchards.

Lastly you should know that 825 families depend one there farm for so many things.Michigan would be very different If we did not have apple orchards.Think about it if we did not have those families who work extremely hard for there orchards and most importantly Michigan.
A is for Assembly Lines by Ayal Starr
Assembly Line

By Ayal Starr

My topic is the Assembly Line. The assembly line is all over the world, but first it started in Detroit. Henry Ford founded the assembly line. The Ford Company today can make around 13,400 cars a day. At first, the assembly line was only used to produce cars, but now it produces many things. I remember when I visited the Hershey’s factory in Pennsylvania and they used the assembly line to make chocolate. It was amazing how quickly the chocolate came off of the assembly line.

Something interesting is that before the assembly line was invented, cars had to be made by hand and it took about 12 hours to make one car! Only rich people could buy cars. But now everyone can because of the assembly line. The cars were made faster and became cheaper. Also, it made more jobs for people in Michigan. I wonder what kind of expertise the workers specialized in?

Also another interesting fact is that Henry Ford thought that the assembly line would help Ford Motor Company sell cars faster and get more business. In 1916, he started using the assembly line and the time needed to make a car went from 12 hours to 93 minutes. It helped Michigan become famous for their cars. If we did not have it, people would not have as much access to cars. I think that without the assembly line Michigan would not be the same. It makes our state special.

Lastly, after the assembly was created and it became popular, Michigan became Motown, which means it is now a state known for its cars. In addition, the assembly line idea led to businesses using it to make lots of things outside of cars. It made cars quickly and the Ford Motor Company paid more money to their workers, which made the economy stronger and more immigrants came because they could get jobs. The assembly line changed the world forever and it made Michigan famous for their cars.
Detroit Bad Boys
By:Logan Glass

My topic for Michigan writing is the Detroit Bad Boys. It Is located in Detroit Michigan (Auburn hills). There are 9 Bad Boys. Their names are Isaiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, James Edwards, Dennis Rodman, Vinnie Johnson, John Salley, Joe Dumars, Rick Mahorn and Mark Aguirre and their coach was Chuck Daly.
One thing you should know about the Bad Boys is the Detroit Pistons kept on losing and losing until the Pistons management put together the Detroit Bad Boys. This makes me wonder how they knew who to trade for and who to draft to make such a good team. The Pistons management kept on trying to trade for Magic Johnson and telling the Lakers that some players were good but they really weren't. When they drafted Isaiah Thomas in 1981 they also traded for Bill Laimbeer and they just clicked and every year they got another piece and that's how the Bad Boys started.
Another thing you should know about the Bad Boys is the Bad Boys gave the whole city of Detroit something to root for and something to be proud of. It also gave the city of Detroit an identity that still lives on today. Just like the Bad Boys we are still rough and tough and ready to dominate. DETROIT vs EVERYBODY. This makes me think about how much teams hated the Bad Boys because they played so rough.
Lastly, they won 2 championships. Chuck Daly made up the Jordan Rules and was the coach of the dream team. Isaiah Thomas was the first bad boy. Joe Dumars was the last bad boy to retire. It is something to look back on because the Bad Boys played the dirtiest defense and it is crazy that they were so good then and the Pistons are so bad right now!!! This reminds me of the time the Pistons were good!!!
The Jordan Rules were if Michael Jordan went to the paint, the Bad Boys would crush him. If he was at the 3 point line, they would double team him so he would have no choice but to pass. The Jordan Rules were made because Michael Jordan was so good. I hope you learned alot about the Detroit Bad Boys.
