Equipment
tinfoil

cottonwool
cloth
3 cups
3 rubberbands
Step 1
One person in each group has to cut the cloth, tinfoil and cottonwool into pieces that are the exact same size.
Q: Why do we have to make sure our 3 materials are the exact same size?
A: We have to do this to ensure we are carrying out a fair test. If the the materials are all different shapes our results will not be accurate.

Step 2
We need to predict which material will keep the hot chocolate warmer for longer.
Predictions:
That tinfoil will keep the hot chocolate warmer for longer because it is a reflective surface and keeps heat in.
Step 3
Wrap the first cup with cloth, the second cup with tinfoil, and the third cup with cotton wool. Use an elastic band to keep the material wrapped around each cup.
Fill each cup with the same amount of boiling water. Use your thermometer to measure the temperature of the water in each cup.
