Letters home by:Owen EarleLoading...
Dear Papa,
I came from Poland. We stayed on a ship and we slept on really hard, wooden and uncomfortable beds. When we woke up and when we ate breakfast we ate breakfast in a bucket. A lot of bad stuff was happening in my home country like it was flooded one time and there were tornadoes so I came to America on a really big ship. There is another reason I came to America is because I wanted to have a free country and meet my family. I had to get there quickly so I left my brother. I was 18 years old.
Sincerely,
Owen

Dear Papa,
Every day on the ship it was very foggy and stormy and one day all of the fog went away and we saw a tall thing right in front of us. I was asking everyone what in the world is that all of them were saying it is the Statue of Liberty. I said we are here!
Sincerely,
Owen

Dear Papa,
When we got off the ship we went to the baggage room and took our bags off. After we took off are bags we went to the registry room or the great hall. My eyes were checked with a buttonhook I kind of liked it but not so much at the same time. After the eye check we went into the medical exam. I was waiting in line to go and they said it was a 6 second physical. During the 6 second physical other doctors were looking for signs of sickness. The doctors were looking for shortness of breath, if our eyes were red, and if we were limping. Immigrant that looked sick were marked with a p then they were sent for further inspection. immigrants who passed the 6 second exam went on to the legal inspection. I saw people really really sick and the people that were sick went to the hospital or were sent home.
Sincerely,
Owen
