Standing on the floor, I wait for my harness to hook on. I look up at the huge wall. The rocks were all over the place. “Ready” I said. “Ready” the staff said. “Climbing.” When the staff said “climb on”, I reached for a random rock and started climbing. At first it seemed easy, but then the hard part came. I felt stuck.
The rocks were not easy to hold onto and I couldn’t grip on for much longer. My mine told me I would fall but my heart told me to keep going. I put my foot on a small rock and I grasped another with my hand. Quickly I jumped. To my surprise I made it! All my worries went away. I was so happy that I didn’t fall. My arms were weak but I kept going up. The top was getting closer and closer. There were some jagged rocks and some smooth rocks. The wall was hard to climb but I could reach to most of the rocks. There were so many rough routes to go through. Which one should I pick? When I look down I was shocked because I didn’t think I climb so high up. My heart thumped.
It felt like 1,000,000 pounds were dragging me down. At first I thought I could not make it, but then I got a burst of courage. I was soaring through the Rockwall! There was a couple more rocks to climb until I was done. After a few seconds, I was able to touch the highest point of the Rock wall. Touching the last rock was breathtaking. I was very excited and I felt proud of myself.
As I was coming down slowly, I thought of what I accomplished. It was a great feeling. My feet hit the floor. The aching in my body went away and I was relaxed. Even though I was a little scared up there, I did not tell anyone. A smile appeared on my face. I have done lots of rockclimbing before but this was one of the best climbing experiences I’ve ever had. This Rockwall was as big as a building. All the waiting was worth it. It was a hard challenge but it was really fun to go through. I can never forget the time I touched the top of the highest rock wall.
