Kazi Dawa Sampud
Kazi Dawa Samdup also known as Kazi Zla-babsam-'grub was born on June 17, 1868 in Sikkim. He was renowned for his translation works of English from Tibetan Buddhism and to add on to this he also played a very prominent role in the relations between the British ruled India and Tibet. K.D.Samdup very impressively sailed through the boat of schooling; he became a pupil of a learned and ascetic lama, Lopen Tshampa Norbu during his service period to the British India as Chief Interpreter to the Commissioner of Raj Shahi Division in Bhutan. Throughout the years he accompanied and interpreted for people of diverse culture, ranging from 13th Dalai Lama to King George V, going further he was appointed as a teacher of the Tibetan language in Calcutta where he passed away two years after, leaving behind a trail of great works

Tanka Bahadur Subba, born in the Darjeeling district of Jalpaiguri division in West Bengal, India is an
Anthropologist and is currently employed as the
second Vice Chancellor of the newly established
Central University of Sikkim in India. To add to this,
he is also a member of the Advisory Board of the
National Museum of Mankind in Bhopal, India.
Professor T.B. Subba has not only aced all fields of
education throughout the years and bagged several
prestigious positions but also has edited and authored several books and articles that revolve around the
the eastern Himalayas along with the geographical,
cultural and political factors that concern the same.
For his contribution to society, he has been
appointed as the editor of an internationally
recognized journal called “The Nehu”.

Wildlife Sanctua
Kyongnosla Alpine Wildlife Sanctuary
LOCATION- East Sikkim, India located 31 km from Gangtok, East Sikkim District, ranging altitudes between 3292 meters and 4116 meters.
BEST TIME TO VISIT- in May, June, October, and November when the climate is pleasant, dry, and warm.
ANIMAL FOUND- Snow Leopard, Musk deer, Asian Black Bear, Tibetan Wolf lesser Cats, Tibetan fox, Satyr Tragopan and Impheyan Pheasant.
ANY HISTORY ATTACHED TO IT- established in 1977, Kyongnosla Alpine Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the oldest sanctuaries in Sikkim.
ANY INTERESTING FACT ABOUT IT- The state bird of Sikkim blood pheasant found here. The sanctuary also has dense buses of bamboos that grow at lower altitudes to provide a perfect home for Red Panda. The dense growth of bamboo also helps in soil conservation. Also, a small place can be rented here for campaigning.

Varsey Rhododendron Wildlife Sanctuary
LOCATION- West Sikkim near Soreng city occupies 104 km sq in the Singalila Range.
BEST TIME TO VISIT- Best time to visit is in the months of October and May.
ANIMAL FOUND- Tibetan Serin, Red Panda, Himalayan Yellow Throated Marten, Himalayan Palm, Civet, Himalayan Langur, Monal Pheasant.
ANY HISTORY ATTACHED TO IT- It was declared a sanctuary in 1996. The wildlife attraction in Geyzing, Sikkim is known for its wide variety of rhododendron and several other species like Oak Primula, pine and Magnolia.
ANY INTERESTING FACT ABOUT IT- it shares the border with neighbouring country Nepal, there are several Hotels and Camps around it for Campaigning. There are several Homestay at Okhrey which is a nearby village inhabited by Shepard Community. 
Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary
LOCATION- East District of Sikkim. The Pangolakha Range, extending below the Chola Range, separates Sikkim from Bhutan. Hathichirey forms the tri-junction between Bhutan, Sikkim and West Bengal where further down the forest continues as the Neora Valley.
BEST TIME TO VISIT- it is cool and enchanting all year long and so is easily accessible.
ANIMAL FOUND- Asiatic Black Bear, Red Fox, Red Pandas, Musk Deer,
ANY HISTORY ATTACHED TO IT- the area is at high altitude bordering Tibet. The forest here is used by some Yak graziers and is the route that the Tiger and Takin have followed into Sikkim.
ANY INTERESTING FACT ABOUT IT- The area is manned by the Indian army, the state department has set up Eco-Development Committees around all wildlife-protected areas. Conservation issues are addressed in the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan process for the Sikkim state.
